About Marisol
I am a developmental psychologist with over 15 years’ experience working across research, practice, and consultancy in play and learning. I hold a PhD in Child Development and Education and previously worked as a Research Lead at the University of Cambridge (PEDAL Centre).
My work focuses on translating developmental research into practice in ways that are rigorous, ethical, and usable in real-world contexts. I have led and contributed to research, design, and evaluation projects with universities, foundations, and international organisations, including consultancy work with The LEGO Foundation, LEGO Education, and public and third-sector institutions.
A central part of my approach is close observation of children in natural social interaction. I design, test, and refine play-based approaches by paying attention to how children actually engage — cognitively, socially, and emotionally — rather than how adults expect them to. This work sits at the intersection of research, design, facilitation, and evaluation, grounded in deep respect for children as capable and imaginative thinkers.
Alongside my research work, I collaborate with organisations, educators, and families to support thoughtful decision-making around learning, play, and development. As a consultant, I work across disciplines and audiences, helping teams clarify aims, design developmentally informed approaches, and evaluate impact in ways that align with their mission and values.
